The Marlow Murder Club needs no introduction to mystery fans, and whilst filming Murder on the Marlow Belle for PBS Masterpiece Mystery is under way, Robert Thorogood’s fifth title in the series, The Mysterious Affair of Judith Potts is landing on a bookshelf near you!  Robert discusses the real-life inspiration for his memorable sleuths, what made this newest book exceptionally challenging, and how Judith’s character arc has been fully formed in his mind since writing book one. The Mysterious Affair of Judith Potts involves tricky plotting while celebrity deaths pile up in Marlow AND Judith’s dark past returns to her doorstep. Robert’s passion for writing murder mysteries began with reading Agatha Christie and he explains how plotting them is challenging and fun and why these mysteries resonate with readers. (It’s all about fair play, puzzles, and misdirection he learned while working as a department store magician.) BONUS: Robert reminds us how to make proper English tea!

EXCELLENT interview! I loved how you drew him out. Just ordered the new book, so thank you for reminding me. Loved his point about "Fair Play" mysteries for Agatha Christie~
