fishing season!

Lilacs are blooming which means it's white bass season in Wisconsin. A long, long time ago I worked at a bar on the Wolf River and during my tenure I witnessed and heard many strange, hilarious, and wonderful things, especially during fishing season. Years passed, the stories stuck in my head, and eventually I got around to writing them down. In typical fashion, what started as one novel became a trilogy, because every time I roll my up sleeves to begin a new project I consistently underestimate what lies ahead of me.

After that book came out, I bribed my youngest offspring to participate in a promotional photo shoot, which came across my memory feed today. It's too good not to share and if you missed reading Across the River, do yourself a solid and grab a copy. You can still get a paperback or ebook version--and if you read it but forgot to leave a review, you can still do that, too!

Why would you want to read this story? It features:

  • Mona Butterfield's high school crush returns to town--will she capture Jake's heart?

  • Radio DJ Dave La May discovers bait shop owner Maw Cooper and makes him famous

  • The locals fight over the future of a family farm--Will a housing development or dairy cattle win?

  • The sweetest elderly couple, Frank and Nancy, will warm your heart on a cold spring day

  • A sleazy bartender, an ornery fisherman, Mona's rowdy best friend, a compulsive gambler round out a zany and crazy cast of locals

  • People rally to fund a young girl's cancer treatments

  • A mysterious mother-daughter team re-opens the Bassville Hotel

  • Tourists v. locals face off when the white bass run starts

Like G and Rose, Across the River has aged well and in my book it's still a winner.

Spill it, reader. Have you read my Bassville books? Did you like them?
